While not strictly related to video games, my temporary interest in programming and microcontrollers have led me to the discovery of a hackerspace right here in Perth! While I don’t yet have a good rough-and-ready definition of the term ‘hackerspace’, the subversive and creative nature of their global membership’s activities allow one to glean a pretty good idea of what they are.
The hackerspace that exists here in Perth goes by the name The Artifactory, and can be found in Osborne Park. They seem to be keenly interested in the artistic and technological intersection between music and semiconductor artifices, amongst other things–tesla coils, partying and programming. The Artifactory appears to possess a progressive ‘membership’ structure from anywhere between the length of an evening to the entitlement to possess a key to the group’s warehouse.
