I remember when I was first introduced to Ancient Domains of Mystery (ADOM). I found it brutally difficult, but insanely compelling – in an era when morality systems and near-infinite customisation is all the rage in the role-playing/adventure games, a return to the rogue-like fundamentals embodied in ADOM would be pretty welcome.
And with the game’s author having successfully crowdfunded a new, updated version, it seems we might be able to see what old school RPG values have to offer today’s gaming culture.
